Welcome! For more than five years, Spencer Brenneman has served a variety of clients, from technology and financial services to consulting and not-for-profits.

Now, as we wrap up our sixth year in business, we are excited to announce our move from helping organizations with their brand strategies to helping them with their overall focus and messaging strategies. That’s not all. We’re also turning our attention to mission-driven organizations: not-for-profits, associations, social enterprises, and B Corps.

“All the sheltering in place gave me an unexpected opportunity to step back and think about the business, my life, and the world around me,” says Spencer Brenneman Founder Douglas Spencer. “Although we have always helped organizations with their messaging, it’s been under their brand’s umbrella. As we all begin to rebuild our lives and organizations to fit into some kind of a new normal, having an updated, relevant, and compelling message is more important than ever.”

After experiencing a lifetime of both challenge and privilege, Douglas has shifted the company’s focus exclusively to supporting the work of mission-driven organizations. By applying his experience and the talents of the Spencer Brenneman team, he knows he can help those who were helping us all.

“To be clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with profit-focused companies” he says. “In fact, we know that our experience working with for-profit businesses will enrich the work we do for mission-driven organizations.

“As I watch the world reel from the devastation of this pandemic, as I see people step up and demand an end to systemic racism,” he continues, “I knew I had to help. I knew I needed to help. I knew I could help. And refocusing Spencer Brenneman is the best way I can think of.”

A lifelong volunteer, including two years as chairman of a $100 million community health center and research institute, Douglas is intimately aware of the challenges facing mission-driven organizations. That first-hand experience enables Spencer Brenneman to help mission-driven organizations reframe their focus and remaster their message. All so they can secure all the support they need and flourish in any environment—even this one.
